Reducing domestic and sexual violence is a key priority for Safer Doncaster Partnership, it represents 25% of all violent crime, and Doncaster has higher rates of reported incidents than other areas of South Yorkshire.
The campaign will consist of a programme of activity throughout the 16 day period.
Keepmoat Stadium – Saturday 21st November 2009
We are delighted to have the support of Doncaster Rovers, and the first event will be a presence at the Doncaster Rovers match on 21st November, where messages will be shown on the scoreboard, a page in the programme, and volunteers will be around outside the ground before the match handing out information, stickers etc and talking to people about the campaign. We will also be collecting in aid of victims in Doncaster, and promoting the other events to follow.
26th November – Doncaster Little Theatre – Certain Curtain Theatre Company.
Certain Curtain Theatre Company are renowned for their original and thought provoking dramas on a range of highly emotive and difficult issues. Safer Doncaster Partnership has commissioned them to deliver three short plays on different aspects of domestic violence, at Doncaster Little Theatre.
“Lady in Red” , “Mockingbird High”, and “Life Sentence” , these will be presented at 11am, 2pm and 7pm on 26th November.

Each performance is followed by a discussion and throughout the day there will be workshops and information and support services available.
Although there is no charge for the performances, seats must be booked in advance. If people cannot attend the plays, they will be able to drop in through the day/evening as convenient for them, and see the displays and talk to support agencies. Depending on demand it may be necessary to restrict the number of performances that an individual can see.
All agencies working with victims of domestic and sexual violence in Doncaster will be participating in the event, and it will be of benefit to both professionals and members of the public.
16 days of stories
Throughout the 16 day period we will be releasing individual stories to illustrate the issues we are tackling, these are to be contributed by a wide range of partner agencies.
Mansion House Event: 9th December from 1pm
At the end of the 16 day campaign we are holding an event at the Mansion House Ballroom, agencies will be present to give information and advice, and there will be displays and interactive ways of pledging support. This event will be hosted by Councillor Andrea Milner, Cabinet Member with specific responsibility for violence against women and girls.
