Artists 4 Human Rights & Social Justice are a group of women artists (a Ghanaian / an Anglo-Thai and Iraqi – all with a background in human rights http://www.susanmensah.co.uk : http://www.darapark.co.uk : http://www.mfaraj.com). Our objective is to produce artwork with a purpose to help raise awareness on issues concerning women’s human rights.
We organise awareness and fundraising events in partnership with CSOs, UN agencies and other groups to support their campaigns and programmes through the use of art as an educational tool and a means of creative expression.
On Friday 31st July 2009, Artists 4 Human Rights & Social Justice (A4HRSJ) will hold an fundraising event. This event – ‘Women in Conflict – Violence Against Women’ will be held in collaboration with UNIFEM, London branch and supports the UN campaign – UNite to End Violence against Women. The activities will include an art exhibition and panel discussion on Friday 31st July with guest speakers discussing issues concerning women in conflict and violence against women in general. The art exhibition will also be held on Saturday 1st August.
Through the sales of tickets and paintings, A4HRSJ hope to raise funds which will then be allocated specifically to projects which will help victims of violence globally (ticket sales and 40% of the proceeds from sales of the paintings will be donated to UNIFEM).
A4HRSJ would like to invite CSOs, UN agencies, artists, business people, the general public and the media to the event..
We hope you will come and support us.
